Design
The nozzles are fabricated with the investment casting process and are made of a cobalt base superalloy. This base material naturally has a high resistance to oxidation and corrosion combined with a good creep rupture strength.
Each airfoil contains a row of fan-shaped cooling holes for film cooling of the trailing edge section.
Cooling air enters the nozzle cavities through AISI 321 core inserts that control the distribution of cooling air in the airfoil cavity. The trailing edge contains over fourty fine cooling holes to reduce the metal temperature during operation. To minimize cooling air leakage, the nozzles are designed with a cordal hinge feature.
In the standard configuration, the nozzle is not coated. Ansaldo Thomassen can advice on coating solutions for specific operating conditions.
The typical coating option consists of a plasma sprayed MCrAlY bond coat and a thermal barrier coating (TBC) on top. The purpose of this coating configuration is to reduce the metal temperature during operation and minimize material degradation.
Before shipment, all nozzles are subjected to a harmonic analysis to verify the assembly sequence in the retaining ring. The delivery includes all applicable installation hardware.
The nozzles are fully interchangeable with GE P/N 112E6044G001, without any modification to the gas turbine.
DESIGN LIFE
The estimated life is 72.000 EOH, based on standard operating conditions and after standard inspection and repair intervals.
