Our service centres are equipped with specially designed jigs, which mimic the various in-situ configurations to ensure conformity to the original dimensions and an exact fit. The centres use advanced tools and machinery and our experienced engineers and in-house capabilities enable us to make repairs in a controlled and well-documented manner. Repairs are carried out using the most advanced, detailed procedures, which are continuously updated to include the very latest technological improvements.
Gas Turbine Rotor Repair
Full refurbishment of gas turbine rotors is one of our core competences. The condition of each component is guaranteed to be within or above Quality Control criteria. Inspection, electrical run-out and balancing checks are carried out continuously. Protective coatings can be applied to blades, buckets, wheel webs and complete compressor rotors. We use only fully calibrated equipment, the latest balancing machines and both horizontal and vertical lathes to ensure that the end-products are equivalent to or better than new rotor assemblies.
Overhaul and Testing
Another of our specialties is the overhaul and flow testing of fuel nozzle tips and complete assemblies for gas, fuel-oil and dual fuel. We continue to research and invest in the latest techniques and technology. Our repair and refurbishment capabilities include flow dividers, fuel pumps, gas control valves, AA compressors and other components within an extremely broad range of on-base and off-base equipment.
Hot Gas Path Components Repair
Hot-gas-path components are cleaned, inspected, welded or brazed, and prepared for coating applications and heat treatments. We have developed hundreds of step-by-step procedures, process and quality specifications, and repair drawings to help ensure consistent high-quality repairs. In-house welding processes include TIG, MIG and shielded electrode welding.
If damage in certain areas is too severe to repair, those areas are replaced. Combustion parts can be fitted with Ansaldo Thomassen Extended Life Time Programme (THOMELT) kits, which are designed to increase the lifetime of parts and thus lengthen inspection intervals. Heat treatment is carried out in vacuum cells, and protective gases are used to clean parts and restore material structures and improve mechanical properties.
We have proven processes for special brazing processes, which we use to repair cracks and restore worn, depleted or damaged surfaces as well as to hard-face wear-prone surfaces. Brazing pastes, brazing slurries and brazing foils developed in house are applied to repair procedures. Hot parts are prepared for coating, using procedures such as air and vacuum plasma spraying, High Velocity Flame Spraying (HVFS) and diffusion coating processes. We have been using high-quality HVFS coatings for many years.
